Of course I have not always had such sedentary hobbies.  I was a REME Corps hockey player and for a time between the ages of 18 and 22 I played rugby at unit level.  Later in life I took up canoeing and dinghy sailing, becoming Army Veteran Doubles wild water canoe Champion, gained qualification as both a basic and sea canoeing instructor and while stationed at Chatham I actively raced my own GP 14 dinghy and gained a safety launch qualification.

Since retiring though, my most energetic activity is cycling, this is occasionally combined with my bird watching and I have covered round trips of 13 miles or so.  I claim no records here and just enjoy the quiet of country roads.

Another hobby has been the learning to play a keyboard and this I do purely for my own pleasure, certainly few others have the chance to listen nor would they appreciate it I am sure.

So here I am a 70 year old (plus) grandfather with a taste for travel, many interests, slight heart problems but plenty of energy.  I maintain my garden though it is planted with mostly shrubs now to keep the maintenance down.  I am not especially fond of TV but prefer to spend time on my computer working on family history which currently stretches back to the late 1700‘s on both parents time line, with family links to Alaska.  My wife’s line is traced back so far to the early 1800‘s but exciting because we discovered relatives in Canada and Australia.  We have been able to visit Canada a couple of times and met her cousins there.  You can see the results in my Family History pages through the link on the first page.

Oh yes almost forgot,  I love cooking especially Asian food
